Do you feel like you’ve lost your compass?

A spiritual awakening can be quite disorienting. It’s usually something outside of you: a job loss, the death of a loved one, divorce, or a terrifying diagnosis, that wakes you up. In the aftermath of this chaotic interference in your life everything changes. Nothing is ever the same again.

For many people that wake-up call brings a new outlook on life. Food tastes better, air smells sweeter, and they have skip in their step.

Then the real-world cuts in.

So many of my clients come to me saying, “No one understands me. They just don’t get it. Even my friends and family say I’ve changed. They think I’m nuts.”

You’ve heard it. She’s into that woo-woo stuff now. You know crystals, meditation, smudging, spirit guides, angel numbers, yoga. All the new-age stuff that follows your awakening. My ex called it my voodoo-hoodo stuff. The truth is it’s not so new.

Your ancestors were the ones who woke you up. No matter what the external circumstances were, their eternal voices called out to be heard. They’ve always been there calling to you, watching over you. You’ve always known they were there, just like the sun and the moon. You assumed they always would be. They waited quietly in the background, whispering and watching until they heard you cry out, “I can’t do this alone.” That cry was permission for them to step forward. Their love lifted you up and out.

Then the other shoe dropped. No matter how joyful the world felt from the inside. Nothing had changed on the outside. Sure, you are seeing things as if for the first time but some of them no longer fit.

The search for answers usually begins online. Most people don’t have that wise old grandma to answer the question, “What’s happening to me?” Grandfather is into politics and sports. He doesn’t tell you to turn off the news and go for a walk in the woods. He’s not there to offer an ax and tell you to chop wood to get rid of that anger that’s welling up. So, you go online and get even more confused. The online energy is so aggravating, and you don’t understand why Facebook and channel flipping are not satisfying. They are actually irritating you even more.

What does all this have to do with the moon? Remember that inner compass you were looking for. It’s on the moon. Well not literally on the moon, but it is hidden within the moon’s cycles. Very simply the new age stuff isn’t new.
