Rescued an old iPod boombox… and now I’m so close 👀🔧
I spotted this old iPod boombox sitting in a pile of things my parents were about to throw out. Covered in dust. Untouched for years. No idea if it even powered on. I couldn’t let it go without at least trying.
Took it home… plugged it in… nothing.
So I opened it up and gave it a proper clean. I carefully took it apart, checked everything over, and put it back together again and plugged it in.
It powered on 🙌 and I could just about hear my trusty iPod nano… but only just. It now has super faint audio.
I’ve checked connections under a microscope and everything looks solid and there are no loose joints. But I can’t get the sound any louder. I assume it’s the amplifier but I genuinely have no idea.
It feels ridiculous to bin it when it’s this close to working properly.
Would love some ideas before I admit defeat, although I realise this group isn’t massively active!
