· Skill focus: teamwork, communication, patience, problem-solving
· Time: 10–15 minutes
· Materials (per team):
o 6–10 plastic cups
o 1 sturdy rubber band
o 4–6 pieces of string (about 2–3 feet long each, tied to the rubber band)
o Flat surface (floor or table)
Setup:
- Tie the strings evenly around the rubber band so that when pulled, it can expand and contract like a “grabber.”
- Place a stack of cups in the center of the play area.
- Split participants into teams of 4–6, giving each player one string.
How to Play:
- The goal is for the team to build a cup pyramid (for example, 3 cups on the bottom, 2 in the middle, and 1 on top) without touching the cups directly with their hands.
- Each player holds one string, and together the group must pull in unison to open the rubber band, lower it around a cup, and then relax the tension so the rubber band grips the cup.
- By coordinating their movements, they lift, transport, and carefully place the cup into position.
- If a cup falls over, the team must use the same method to reset it.
- Continue until the full pyramid is built.

- Did you feel frustrated at any point? How did you handle it?
- What strategies worked best?
- How does this activity show why patience and teamwork are important in school, sports, or family life?
