Two years before I started my business I had been in a car accident that injured my neck and shoulder and left me unable to do the job I'd done for 17 years. I was offered a position with a company that promised me the moon, and was willing to accommodate my injuries. After the honeymoon phase, I realized all was not what it seemed, and all of a sudden I was stuck in a job I hated, with no idea how I was going to get out of it. I had started building an online presence in my industry, and my job, though initially encouraging, felt as though I was overshadowing them. They gave me an ultimate; shut down all my online activity, or I had to leave the job. The way I saw it, the online stuff was my only life line. So, just like that, I didn't have a job. I'd always dreamed of starting my own business, and that day I was left with no choice but to. Fast forward eight years later, and I've been my own boss since. I've built every aspect of my business from my website and branding to my marketing, by myself, and generate over $100k in annual revenue, by myself.
