Is it insomnia or are you a night owl?
Oftentimes I chat with folks who have a hard time falling asleep and don't realize that they have a shift in their internal clock aka circadian rhythm that leads them to be sleepier later. Typically this is if someone cannot sleep until after midnight. Guess what there is a genetic component to this and it can run in the family. Think of it like jet lag, but you aren't on vacation in a different time zone. A great wake to turn your internal clock back if you want to sleep earlier is to increase your light exposure in the AM by 30 min or greater when you wake up. If you can go outside and take a walk amazing! If not consider purchasing a light box of at least 10,000 lux to help you feel sleepier earlier within a week you'll notice yourself feeling sleepier earlier. Let me me know if this helps.

How do you know if you are a morning lark or a night owl? Maybe you feel most alert mid-morning. The following is a link to the morningness-eveningness questionnaire, a 19 item questionnaire used in research that can help guide you to figure our your peak alertness. Please answer the questions as when your body prefers to do to the following rather than when you actually do (i.e. think about what your schedule would like be on vacation or if had you no responsibilities to dictate your schedule.) https://qxmd.com/calculate/calculator_829/morningness-eveningness-questionnaire-meq Questions?
