How to Create Posts in Your Skool Community (Step-by-Step)
Creating posts is how you engage members, share updates, ask questions, and keep your community active. Regular posting drives engagement and helps members see value in staying.
Feel free to watch the video here - https://youtu.be/B4ZY1i58b8o?si=EKpDRd7j-FQYjVqU
Step 1: Navigate to Your Community Feed
Click "View" to access your Skool community, then click the "Community" tab at the top of the page. You'll see your community feed with any existing posts already visible.
Step 2: Click "Write something"
At the very top of the feed, you'll see a box that says "Write something." Click on this box to start creating your new post. This works the same way on mobile and desktop.
Step 3: Add Your Title and Content
Type your post title in the first field, then add your main content in the larger text box below. Keep your title clear and specific so members know what the post is about at a glance.
Step 4: Add Media (Optional)
Below your post content, you'll see several options to enhance your post:
  • Attachment - Upload files or documents
  • Link - Add a URL to another post or external website
  • Video - Paste a video link or drag-and-drop a video file to upload
  • Poll - Create a poll to gather member feedback
  • Emoji - Add visual elements to your post
  • GIF - Insert an animated GIF
Step 5: Select Your Category (Critical Step)
Before posting, you MUST select a category from the dropdown menu. Your community will have different categories based on how you've set it up. Choose the category that best matches your post topic (like "General Discussion," "Wins," "Questions," etc.).
Step 6: Decide on Email Notifications
Toggle the "Send to all members" option on or off. When ON, Skool will send an email notification to all members about your new post. When OFF, the post only appears in the community feed. Use email notifications strategically for important announcements, not every single post.
Step 7: Publish Your Post
Click the "Post" button to publish. Your post will immediately appear in the community feed. Scroll down to verify it posted correctly and appears under the right category.
Bonus: How to Delete a Post
If you need to remove a post:
  1. Click on the post to open it
  2. Click the three dots menu in the top right
  3. Select "Delete" from the dropdown options
  4. Confirm deletion
You'll see a notification confirming the post was deleted, and it will immediately disappear from your feed.
What Types of Posts Should You Create?
The most valuable posts for driving engagement are questions that require member experience (not yes/no answers), member wins and success stories, challenges or prompts that invite participation, and teaching posts that solve specific problems. Posts that ask for opinions, hot takes, or personal experiences consistently get the highest engagement.
Things to Remember
Choose your categories carefully—members filter by category, so miscategorized posts get missed. Use the email notification toggle strategically (1-2 times per week maximum, not for every post). Add media when it enhances the post, but don't force it if a simple text post works better. Mobile-friendly formatting matters—use short sentences and plenty of white space for easy scanning.
Don't Do This
Don't post without selecting a category—Skool requires it and your post won't publish. Don't send every post as an email notification or members will tune out (or worse, leave). Don't post just to post—quality beats frequency every time. And don't forget to engage with comments on your posts within the first hour to boost visibility.
