Stop Asking Questions That Get One-Word Answers
Engagement explodes when people talk about themselves.
Most people ask "Fact Questions."
- "Where are you from?"
- "What is your job?"
- "How long have you been doing this?"
This results in short answers that end the conversation.
Instead ask them a "Story-starting Question."
- "What’s the craziest thing that happened at your job this week?"
- "What was the moment you realized you wanted to move to [City]?"
- "What’s the biggest lesson you learned the hard way this year?"
Stories come from the heart.
Have you tried this in your group? What were the results?
