You are invited to join me for my forthcoming solo exhibition’s private view. Saturday 15th March (1.30 - 4.30pm) is the date for your diary. The month long show - entitled ‘Roy Best: Bestiary and other works’ - will be filling both floors of Village Art’s gallery space in the Skelmanthorpe Community Library building with around 50 pieces, most of which have never been exhibited anywhere before. So, lots to see. It also marks the launch of ‘Bestiary’, a large format limited edition book featuring full size prints of my entire Bestiary collection with accompanying text. I do hope that if you’re free you’ll join me on the 15th for a glass of wine or a cuppa and cake. For the uninitiated, Skelmanthorpe is very close to Yorkshire Sculpture Park which is always well worth a visit, so why not make a full arty day of it?! Buses to Skelmanthorpe go from Wakefield, Denby Dale and Huddersfield. Hope to see a crowd of fellow Sketch Club Social folk there… Roy

Hello all, I’m running a painting workshop about abstracting from the landscape. We’ll do a few exercises to help you discover your personal style of abstraction and I’ll share the things I’ve learned over the years on colour, composition, texture materials etc. All materials provided, well mainly use acrylic paint but there will be charcoal and pastels in the mix too. Various brushes and other tools will be available to try too. It will be a small group approximately 8 people, and we already have beginners and some more experienced participants signed up.

We are holding a pre-Christmas studio sale in Holbeck Friday-Sunday. Mulled wine and nibbles available to tempt you in from the blustery weather, not to mention some fabulous ceramics. Plenty of parking is available.
