For this week’s Gathered Gold I’ve chosen a painting: Wanderer Above the Sea of Fog by Caspar David Friedrich.
A figure stands above a sea of mist, looking out over a landscape he cannot fully see. There is no clear path laid out in front of him. No neat answer. No sign pointing “this way.”
And still, he stands.
It feels right for this week’s theme because choosing what feels true does not always arrive as certainty. Sometimes it arrives as a pause. A choice that you already know inside. A sense that even if you cannot see the whole way forward, you can feel the difference between what is for your and what is not.
This week, let the painting meet you where you are.
Journal prompt:
Where in your life are you standing at the edge of the fog, and what truth is acting as your north, even if the path has not fully shown itself yet?
Start with:
I may not know the whole way, but I know…
Write for ten minutes. Let it be honest before it is polished.
