DAILY OBSERVATIONS/INSIGHTS:
“If you knew you had to fight for your life tomorrow, would you change your training today?” That quote from Bruce often strikes me harder than any punch ever could. It constantly inspires me to confront my chosen commitments. In Wing Chun, progress isn’t about flashy moves or perfect form. It’s about showing up attuned to powers synonymous with The Nim Tao State. Even when I’m tired, busy, and/or unmotivated. Every time I step into my dojo/kwoon, I’m not just training my body; I’m training my mind to be disciplined, focused, and ready. I truly believe, consistency is the invisible force behind every skilled martial artist. Miss a day, and it seems like nothing. Miss a week, and my timing slips. Miss a month, and I’m no longer the same martial artist I was a month ago.
It seems to me that most folks wait for motivation to strike. But the truth is, motivation is a feckin’ liar! It shows up when it feels like it, instead of when I need it. Discipline is what carries me through every time. Especially on days when I’m not performing at my best, simply being there matters. Because when that pivotal moment comes; I know I will can fall back on the level of my training. So I show up. Every time it is possible. Not for points or perfection, but for personal progress. Not because I have too, but because deep down I know I can
