WHEN THE ENEMY ATTACKS YOUR IDENTITY

What happens when you know what God says about you, but your thoughts, feelings, circumstances, or past seem to tell you something completely different?

One of the enemy's oldest strategies is to cause people to question what God has already said.

In Matthew 3, God declares concerning Jesus, “This is My beloved Son.” Then, in Matthew 4, Satan approaches Jesus with a challenge: “If You are the Son of God…”

God said, “This IS My Son.”

The enemy said, “IF You are the Son.”

That pattern should get our attention.

In this Bible teaching, we look at how the enemy attacks identity, how lies can become deeply rooted beliefs, and how Christians can respond by bringing their thoughts back into agreement with the truth of God's Word.

We also go back to Genesis 3 and examine the serpent's question, “Has God indeed said…?” From the Garden of Eden to the temptation of Jesus, Scripture reveals a pattern of questioning God's Word, distorting God's character, and tempting people to act according to a lie.

You may have believed things about yourself for years:

“I am unwanted.”

“I will always be this way.”

“I am too damaged.”

“God could never use me.”

“I am condemned because of my past.”

“I will never change.”

But believing something for a long time doesn't make it true.

If you belong to Jesus Christ, your identity is not determined by your worst moment, your past, another person's opinion of you, rejection, failure, or even how you feel today.

Our standard is the Word of God.

Romans 8:1 says there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

2 Corinthians 5:17 says anyone in Christ is a new creation.

Ephesians 1 tells us that we are chosen, adopted, redeemed, and accepted in Christ.

Ephesians 2:10 says we are God's workmanship.

Hebrews 13:5 reminds us that He will never leave us nor forsake us.

The answer to a lie isn't simply positive thinking.

It's truth.

Jesus answered temptation with three powerful words:

“It is written.”

Stop putting question marks where God has put periods.
