I wanted to offer up a few things I am finding when it comes to how to sell digital products. The reality is if you are starting from scratch with no email list paying for ads is the fastest way to bring in income. There is just no way around it. But this is what else you might want to know... ORGANIC SEARCH The more I look into SEO, search and AI search the more I understand that these companies are highlighting the "big dogs" - huge sites that have been around for years. I can still compete just differently. My eCommerce builder gives my products the best possible chance in the search results and AI results but for independent business owners we need to go where our people are at. So organic search is not impossible - it Is just about giving it time. It may take 12-18 months minimum to make an impact in the search results. Maybe longer. ADS One different way is to accept that I need an ads budget. It seems £700 will get you somewhere. Or I need to spend all my time on social media hanging out where my target market hang out and build my list that way. I would never consider ads even two years ago but right now, I have been. I DO SELL Just in case I need to repeat that again! I don't need loads of money I just need a consistent flow of it! My bills are paid and my savings account isn't what it was but its doing ok! Today has been a good sales day. I have moved from the 1000 true fans approach because it felt a little icky! Focusing on earning £297 a day provides the same result. DJANGIFY IS AMAZING The tool works. It has nothing to do with whether I sell one digital download or one million. It is just a mechanism. I just wanted to help a Djangify owner sell their products by letting them know what I do but the site itself offers plenty of ways to sell. If an owner already has a list they are good to go! I don't want my experiment to hamper whether someone invests their time and money into Djangify. When you buy Shopify you get the tool. Just like payhip or Gumroad. Djangify just added two new AI tools to your shop (Product Knowledge and Q&A generation for products). If you already have Claude connected you'll need to reconnect once to pick them up and no new credentials are needed: 1. In Claude, go to Settings → Connectors 2. Find your shops connector and click Disconnect, then Connect again (or use the Reconnect option if one's shown) 3. Log in and approve access when prompted - your existing Client ID and Secret are unaffected 4. Test it by asking Claude to "show me this product's Product Knowledge" or similar When you test it, if you haven't filled anything in it should say there is nothing there then ask you if you want it completed. If you have filled in that information for one of your products it will show it to you. Anyone connecting for the first time doesn't need any of this of course. Only if you are already connected. THIS IS AN IMPORTANT UPDATE What has been added. I will link a couple of articles. The first is on the Djangify blog How To Make Your Digital Shop Understandable To AI I will leave the second in the comments once I add it to SubStack SUMMARY: If you want to stand a hope in hell of being found by anymore these days you need to do what you can to highlight not just who you are, but what your product is about, and specifically who it helps. The ability to do that AND include FAQs on your product sales page has been added to Djangify. You can use Claude to fill it all in for you of course or fill it in yourself. It is on the product page itself. Fill it in and help AI to understand this vital information. The mission: The primary goal is not to rank on Google but to Make independent businesses sufficiently useful, distinctive, attributable and machine-readable that AI has a reason to mention them.

I don't know why I didn't add this earlier but I have made the newsletter signup box available in the hero section at the top. There are two different ways to add. Just include your code or if you already have code on the site tick the box to use your existing code.

I officially started marketing mid August. I stopped building completely and I am focused. Not on Inspirational Guidance anymore because it was hit by the EEAT changes in May and I need to get it to bounce back. So I turned my attention to selftalkeffect.com Everything on that site is indexed. The cluster/topic pages are working well and I am writing one main article and then making sure other articles link to it - it's all strategically placed not random. Generative AI mentioned DJANGIFY. Just the one mention but that makes me happy. Interest in Djangify continues and now I can use AI to help owners I don't feel like the responsibility is all on my shoulders. When people get stuck AI can help and I am creating skills.md files so owners can hand them over to AI and get the help they need. SOCIAL MEDIA Instagram is going surprisingly well, so now I am putting the same energy into my personal account and gettin good movement. I don't know if I will start a Djangify instagram or not. Research is indicating the people I am looking for are in Facebook groups - so I may start a page. Self-Talk Insta currently at 1k followers. Started August 26th 2026 Pinterest. I am just adding images and a reel daily. I know results from Pinterest will take much longer (several months) just like the search engines but once it starts working lasts longer than social media. These are BRAND NEW SITES. Starting with zero followers. Its always important to stress this as I build because I see a lot of people saying in youtube comments that they would like to know what it takes to start from zero. That's why I document this. LEAD GENERATION STUDIO This amazing tool has given me a plan. I don't have to think about what to post. Every day I ask for my tasks and then Claude goes through them with me. If I need images I go to ChatGPT and get those done. Chat also has a skills file about the site. So Claude makes a video and writes content that I can rewrite and chat makes images.

It seems selling a PDF is "boring" - so ok, what now? Digital experiences. Products that provide an experience. Now - thanks to Djangify - I provide digital experiences and mini apps. It seems artifacts are being called mini apps or dynamic documents or web-based work space. So many names, so little time. It isn't Wednesday but this is sort of a mini update because I FINALLY FINISHED a site. I can hardly believe it. Of course they don't have to but its there and I like structure and systems. So.... You have a Djangify site. You set it up with your products and connect your email provider You use Pinterest and/or social media to gain attention and You use your link hub on social media https://www.selftalkeffect.com/links/the-self-talk-effect/ You get people onto your email list and / or registering at your site so they have an account when they are ready to buy You use order bumps so when people add a product to their cart they can buy another You use the one time offer available so you can offer a product just once to people. It shows up after they register on your site and go to log in for the first time. You use PAID hosted artifact tools and link them with your PDF so you can say you are offering a PDF and web-based workspace or mini-app - a digital experience. You nurture and stay in touch with your email list. If you want to you run a Skool group so people can connect with each other. I would still have an email list even with a group. That is the whole structure I have set up so far and have in place starting from zero. If you already have a social media presence and/or email list then that makes it even better.
