Presence, Perception, and Questions of the Higher Self
Over time, I have developed a spiritual practice that I experience very deeply. I raise my hands into the air, and through my fingertips I feel a distinct sensation. It begins in my fingers and gradually settles throughout my entire body. To me, this feeling is unmistakable. My personal belief is that it serves as an entryway through which spiritual energy or spiritual presences can connect with a person.
I then start my music. As I do this, I feel what I can only describe as a magnetic presence standing in front of me. Through much experimentation with different people, I have come to believe that both the other person and I can feel this interaction. I perceive it as movement upon the skin and within what many people refer to as the bioelectric field.
During these moments, I intentionally focus on positive things. I think about healing, peace, comfort, and the removal of anxiety. In my mind, I direct these thoughts and intentions toward the person standing before me.
As this experience unfolds, I do not visualize the person's eyes. I see them. They simply appear before me. The eyes are usually in black and white, and sometimes I notice what looks like a small sparkle within them or flairs of light.
With one particular person, I often see tears in their eyes. At times, I hear words or impressions in my mind that seem to be coming from them. However, I have learned to approach these experiences with humility because I do not always know with certainty where the impressions are coming from. Sometimes I wonder if I am hearing what they are saying, and other times I question whether I am hearing my own thoughts reflected back to me. At this point in my journey, there is still some uncertainty, and I do not claim to have all the answers.
What I do believe is that I am interacting with what I perceive to be the person's higher self—a deeper, more aware aspect of their being that steps forward during these moments. I often ask internally, "Is this your higher self or your lower self?"
Sometimes, a response forms in my mind: "It's both."
That answer has left me with many questions. Perhaps human beings are more complex than we realize. Perhaps our conscious mind, our deeper self, and our emotions are not always separate, but interconnected in ways we do not fully understand.
Sometimes these experiences become deeply emotional. More often than not, I find myself crying. There is a sense of compassion, connection, and a sincere desire to ease another person's suffering.
This practice has become a daily part of my life. Whether others interpret these experiences as spiritual encounters, meditation, empathy, focused intention, intuition, or something else entirely, I can only describe them as I have experienced them. For me, they are moments of connection, reflection, and an earnest search for healing, understanding, and truth.
