When Life and Death Are Both in His Hands
When Life and Death Are Both in His Hands
“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.” Psalm 116:15
At first, this verse can seem unusual. We normally think of life as precious, yet here God says that the death of His people is precious to Him.
The Hebrew word speaks of something of great value, something costly, something never treated lightly.
We protect what is precious.
Throughout this psalm, we see God doing exactly that. He delivers, preserves, and guards the life of His servant because every day of our lives matters to Him.
Yet when the earthly journey of one of His children finally ends, heaven does not see it as a tragedy without hope.
It is a sacred moment.
A moment when one redeemed by grace is welcomed home into the presence of the Father.
Whether this psalm was written by David after years of fleeing for his life or by King Hezekiah after recovering from a life threatening illness, both had discovered the same truth
Life is a gift from God,
and death is never outside His loving care.
Every human life is sacred because every person bears His image.
God desires that none should perish, and the cross reveals the price He was willing to pay to bring us back to Himself.
For those who belong to Christ, death is not defeat,
but homecoming.
For those who reject Him, the tragedy is not death itself, but eternal separation from the very One for whom they were created.
That is why every life matters.
Every soul matters.
Every day God gives us is a gift to be treasured.
