What is love
What is love?
It’s the cry of a newborn baby,
the beauty of wildflowers clothed in colour,
the drops of rain falling on parched ground,
the warmth of the sun that makes all things grow.
It’s the seed hidden in darkness,
breaking open to bring forth new life.
It’s the wind that stirs unseen,
the waves that roar their praise,
the light that shines even when the dark tries to hide Me.
All creation whispers of My love,
but My greatest love was shown on a hill.
The crown of thorns that pierced My brow,
the long walk carrying the weight of the world,
the nails that held Love to the tree.
The innocent for the guilty.
The blood that fell for healing.
The words that rose—Forgive them.
The spear that opened My heart
so yours could be made whole.
How can I comprehend this love? you ask.
How can I understand its height and depth?
And I say to you,
You cannot measure it; you can only receive it.
This love never fails.
It sees the good within your wounded heart.
It speaks peace into your stillness.
It is beyond all knowledge, beyond all understanding—
but it is yours.
Who am I that You would love me like this? you whisper.
And I answer,
You are the one I chose, the one I delight in.
The one I call Mine.
Whom have I but You?
What do I have but You?
Nothing you desire compares to Me, My child.
So rest.
Let My love be your understanding.
Let My heart be your home.
For this is who I am—
and I long for you to know My heart.
