While praying with a friend we were both bringing before God circumstances that are stretching and confronting us. As we prayed together, this verse came alive in a fresh way.
“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.” Isaiah 60:1
What a powerful invitation.
It is an invitation to rise above difficult circumstances and step into God’s radiant presence. Testing seasons are exhausting, but they were never meant to be carried alone. There is strength in praying with one another, encouraging one another, and reminding each other of God’s promises.
What also stood out to me is that the verse doesn’t say God’s glory will rise upon you someday. It says His glory has risen upon you. It is a present reality, not just a future promise.
As I prayed, I had the picture of a mirror.
A mirror cannot produce light. It has no light of its own. Its only purpose is to reflect the light that shines upon it.
I believe that’s what God is calling us to do.
So often we exhaust ourselves trying to be strong enough, wise enough, or capable enough. But total reliance on God means allowing Him to be the source while we simply reflect His glory. We don’t have to create the light—we only need to remain turned toward Him.
The darker the room, the more noticeable the reflection becomes.
Perhaps the very circumstances that are stretching us are the backdrop against which His glory will be seen most clearly.
Today, don’t strive to shine in your own strength.
Simply turn your face toward the Light.
His glory has already risen upon you.
