☂️FOUNDATION 04 — THE PARASOL ON STAGE
🌎 ENGLISH Why can a parasol have such a powerful impact on stage? Its size, color, movement and sudden appearance allow us to transform the stage picture in just a fraction of a second. But the parasol can become much more than an object that simply appears. It can be produced, vanished, transformed, levitated, changed in color or size, combined with other elements, and used as a true object of manipulation. For me, one of the most interesting questions is not: “How can I make another parasol appear?” but: “What else can I do magically with this parasol?” That question can completely change the way we approach the object. After watching the class, I would love to know: What do you believe is the greatest strength of the parasol on stage — its visual impact, its possibilities for manipulation and transformation, its versatility, or something else? Su tamaño, color, movimiento y aparición repentina nos permiten transformar la imagen escénica en apenas una fracción de segundo. Pero la sombrilla puede convertirse en mucho más que un objeto que simplemente aparece. Podemos producirla, desaparecerla, transformarla, levitarla, cambiar su color o su tamaño, combinarla con otros elementos y utilizarla como un verdadero objeto de manipulación. Para mí, una de las preguntas más interesantes no es: “¿Cómo puedo hacer aparecer otra sombrilla?” sino: “¿Qué más puedo hacer mágicamente con esta sombrilla?” Esa pregunta puede cambiar completamente nuestra forma de estudiar el objeto. Después de ver la clase, me gustaría saber: ¿Cuál crees que es la mayor fortaleza de la sombrilla sobre el escenario: su impacto visual, sus posibilidades de manipulación y transformación, su versatilidad o alguna otra cosa?

☂️👁️ FOUNDATION 03 — VISUAL ANGLES
🌎 ENGLISH A technique can look completely clean from one position… and become exposed with only a small change in the spectator's point of view. That is why learning a technique is not only about knowing where the secret is hidden. We also need to understand: From where can the spectator see it? In Foundation 03 — Visual Angles, we begin studying one of the most important principles not only in Parasol Magic, but in manipulation in general. We explore how the position of the body, the hands, the Canopy, our place on stage and even small adjustments can protect—or expose—a technique. And little by little, we begin developing something essential: 👁️ ANGLE AWARENESS Because a technique does not end when we manage to perform the secret. ✨ The technique ends when we make the effect look right. ☂️ Foundation 03 — Visual Angles is now available inside The Art of Parasol Magic. 💬 LET'S TALK: When you practice a technique, do you normally check it only from the front, or do you also study it from different viewing angles? Por eso aprender una técnica no significa solamente saber dónde está escondido el secreto. También tenemos que preguntarnos: ¿Desde dónde puede verlo el espectador? En Foundation 03 — Visual Angles comenzamos a estudiar uno de los principios más importantes, no solamente en Parasol Magic, sino en la manipulación en general. Estudiamos cómo la posición del cuerpo, las manos, el Canopy, nuestra ubicación en el escenario e incluso pequeños ajustes pueden proteger —o exponer— una técnica. Y poco a poco comenzamos a desarrollar algo fundamental: 👁️ ANGLE AWARENESS — CONCIENCIA DE LOS ÁNGULOS Porque una técnica no termina cuando conseguimos realizar el secreto. ✨ La técnica termina cuando conseguimos que el efecto se vea correctamente.

☂️ FOUNDATION 02 — PRECISE HANDLING
🌎 ENGLISH Foundation 02 of The Art of Parasol Magic is now available in the Classroom. Precise Handling is based on something that may seem like a very small detail, but over the years I have realized how important it really is. By watching different performances, studying my own rehearsals, and repeatedly analyzing the way the umbrella appears from the audience's point of view, I began to notice how a small change in the angle of the Shaft, the position of the Canopy, or even an unnecessary movement can completely change the final image. The technique may be exactly the same. The presentation is not. That is the idea behind Precise Handling. After watching the class, I would love to know: Have you ever recorded yourself performing and discovered a small detail in your position, angle or movement that you had never noticed before? Or perhaps you corrected something very small that ended up making a big difference in your performance. Precise Handling nace de algo que puede parecer un detalle muy pequeño, pero con los años me he dado cuenta de lo importante que realmente es. Observando diferentes actuaciones, estudiando mis propios ensayos y analizando una y otra vez cómo se ve la sombrilla desde el punto de vista del público, comencé a notar cómo un pequeño cambio en el ángulo del Shaft, la posición del Canopy o incluso un movimiento innecesario puede cambiar completamente la imagen final. La técnica puede ser exactamente la misma. La presentación no. Esa es la idea detrás de Precise Handling. Después de ver la clase, me gustaría saber: ¿Alguna vez te has grabado actuando y descubriste algún pequeño detalle en tu posición, ángulo o movimiento que nunca habías notado antes? 🌎 ENGLISH Foundation 01 of The Art of Parasol Magic is now available in the Classroom. Before we begin studying manipulation, I believe it is important that we all speak the same language and understand the object we have in our hands. In this class, we explore the essential parts of the umbrella and the terminology that I will use throughout the course. After watching the class, I would love to know: Which term was new to you? Is there any part of the umbrella that you call by a different name in your country or language? Tell us what you call it and where you are from.
