9.12 - Connecticut Gneiss
This type of rock is everywhere you look when I go to CT. As you scan the ground on a sunny day, sparkly flecks of mica glint in the sun. Sometimes they’re so reflective they look like crushed aluminum.
This one isn’t the best, but it’s still fascinating when you look up close. The millions and millions of years it took to form the crystals and mix them all together is just so cool.
