📌 How Much Are You Prepared To Invest?
I thought I would share this one here in full. There is a message in community in Skool, that begins here...
There is a simple story that has been shared in many forms over the years. A pig and a chicken are out for an early morning walk. They pass an orphanage where children are playing outside. The chicken watches quietly for a moment and says, “You know, we should do something for those poor children; maybe a bacon and egg breakfast?”
The pig pauses, thinks for a second, and replies, “Easy for you to say. For you it is a donation. For me it is a commitment.”
At first glance, it sounds like a humorous exchange. Yet beneath the humor sits a powerful question that applies to business, mentoring, leadership, and personal growth:
How much are you truly prepared to invest?
🌟 The Difference Between Contribution and Commitment
Many people begin their journey with good intentions. They want to help, build something meaningful, or make a difference. Like the chicken, they are willing to contribute. They will give time when convenient, share ideas when inspired, or offer support when it does not cost too much.
There is nothing wrong with contribution. Every effort matters.
However, real transformation usually comes from commitment; the moment when involvement moves beyond occasional participation into something deeper and more personal.
Commitment asks more of us. It requires consistency, responsibility, and sometimes sacrifice.
🌟 Mentoring and the Investment Question
When mentoring others, this difference becomes clear quickly. Some individuals seek guidance but remain cautious, testing the water without fully stepping in. They want change, but only if it comes easily.
Others decide to commit. They show up even when progress feels slow. They apply what they learn. They stay engaged when enthusiasm fades and discipline must take over.
As mentors, we often see the difference before they do.
The question is never how talented someone is. The real question is how much they are prepared to invest in their own growth.
🌟 Investment Is Not Only About Money
Many people hear the word investment and immediately think about finances. Money can certainly represent commitment, but it is only one form.
Investment also includes:
  • Time intentionally set aside
  • Emotional energy devoted to growth
  • Willingness to be uncomfortable
  • Openness to feedback and change
  • Consistent action over time
The most successful journeys usually involve all of these elements.
🌟 The Comfort Zone Trap
The chicken’s suggestion sounds generous because it carries little personal risk. That mirrors how many people approach change. They want results while staying safely within familiar habits.
Commitment feels different. Commitment requires stepping beyond comfort.
It means saying, “I am willing to do what is necessary, not just what feels easy.”
Growth rarely happens without that shift.
🌟 Mentoring as a Mirror
A good mentor does not force commitment. Instead, mentoring acts as a mirror, reflecting back the truth of someone’s actions.
A mentor may ask:
  • How serious are you about this goal?
  • What are you willing to give up to achieve it?
  • What does commitment look like for you right now?
These questions are not meant to pressure. They are meant to create clarity.
🌟 Choosing Your Level of Investment
Not every goal requires the same level of commitment, and not everyone is ready for full transformation at the same time. The key is honesty.
Ask yourself:
  • Am I making a small donation of effort?
  • Or am I making a true commitment?
Neither answer is wrong; as long as it aligns with the results you expect.
Problems arise when expectations demand commitment-level outcomes while actions remain at donation level effort.
🌟 Final Thoughts
The story of the pig and the chicken reminds us that intention alone does not determine results. Investment does.
When you approach your goals, your learning, or your mentoring journey, pause and ask:
  • How much am I really prepared to invest?
Because real growth begins the moment you move from casual contribution to committed action.
And while commitment may ask more of you, it is also where meaningful change, lasting progress, and true transformation quietly begin.
