Hexis Tip
Last week I was chatting to somebody who was using hexis and it seemed like he was really underfuelling. Sounded like he was empty when starting the sessions and I got the sense that energy was down significantly compared to normal. He had been using hexis and was happy with his progress but all of a sudden it seemed like he was way hungrier than normal and something wasn’t adding up. He checked his weight goal on hexis and somehow it had slashed his weekly weight loss goal to 1.8kg! He was almost at his target weight so he definitely did not need to lose the last couple of kgs that fast. He definitely didn’t intentionally set the weight loss to 1.8kg so I don’t know if he hit a button by accident or if the app just šŸ’© itself. Just be careful and check that you have the correct weight target set whether it’s to lose weight, maintain weight etc. You need to check this on the website not through the app. Under profile, then Health & Performance, then move the slider to a "healthy" deficit. Usually .5kg a week. ā€œIn my case it was set to a 15% caloric deficit, and the more I exercised the more it would trim my calories. I was wondering why when I completed workouts I would lose 200ish calories off of my day.ā€ Might just be a once off thing but this could have had big implications if it went unnoticed.

New Nutrition Module
Folks, delighted to add an amazing new resource into the Nutrition module. It's the start of a series i'm building with Dr David Dunne. David is the co-founder of Hexis and consults with or directly manages the Nutrition for over 30% of all World Tour riders. In this masterclass we unpack the idea of ā€œgas in the tankā€ and how to line up your fuelling with the actual demands of your training and racing. We walk through the four big building blocks that really move the needle for performance: understanding your session demands, planning your carbs across the day, matching your gas levels to key workouts, and using feedback to refine things over time. He also shares some really cool data from Bob Jungles Tour de France stage win, showing exactly the energy costs of winning a tour stage. It's in the Nutrition Module in classrooms. Welcome to NOT DONE YET (Start Here)
Great to have you here. This community is built for riders who believe their best chapter on the bike is still ahead. Whether you want to get fitter, faster, leaner, stronger or simply fall back in love with cycling, you’re in the right place. Before we get rolling, let’s get to know each other. Drop a quick intro under the "introduce yourself tab" in "communities" • Who are you • Where you’re riding from • Your cycling goals • And most importantly… a pic of your bike This is a community of support, accountability and shared passion. The more we show up, the more powerful this space becomes. Looking forward to meeting you all and helping you write the next chapter in your cycling story. Let’s get after it. You’re not done yet.

Strength Training
Interested to know what other people are doing in their strength training Personally, I’m using most of my gym sessions from an overall health perspective, and for longevity in my very physical job. For me, the last few years I’ve been struggling with the bike. Even though I’ve continued riding Ultras, it’s the only thing that kept me riding. I like to train heavy at least two times a week and one session with accessories. Heavy squats are at as full a depth that I can reach, with destroyed knees from 20 plus years of motocross. Cheers for any feedback
Tech Thursday - Gear Ratios
We had some discussions about gear ratios the other day and I wanted to know what you guys are running? If you can briefly mention whether it’s a road/gravel/mtb, type of terrain, if you are racing and so on. Just to give a little bit of context. Eg. If somebody lives on the flats and races crits then a 1 x road groupset makes perfect sense for them but I don’t want somebody living in the mountains to think that they should copy your setup šŸ˜† For me I built a road bike up with Shimano 52 x 36 front chainring but using a 10 x 36 sram casette (works fine but wouldn’t race it). Living in girona so I’ve a big gear for the fast downhills but a pretty easy one for long, hard climbs too. If I was racing I’d want a 54 front chainring but not racing these days. Also thinking of selling my road bike and buying a gravel frame with a 46 chainring and getting the sram Xplr 10x46 and swap in and out a set of road and gravel wheels. Road would be my priority so it would be a slightly bigger gear for the gravel riding but I think it would be fine. Was thinking of getting a set of 47-50mm tyres for the gravel wheels. Again I’m not currently racing so for the time being it could be a fine option. A slow, durable tyre would be fine - couldn’t be bothered with a set of fast tyres that punctures all the time and using tonnes of plugs. Those new recyclable vittoria tyres are cool but no idea what they are like - would rather go for vittorias to support EF with caoimhe but open to suggestions on all this šŸ™ I’d like to start creating more posts where everybody can jump in and add their thoughts and opinions. Would be cool to see more people getting involved in these discussions!
