Gemini + Google Business Profile: What’s New
- New “Business Notebook” feature connects Gemini to a Google Business Profile
- Gemini reads the business’s website and GBP to build a brand snapshot
- Proactively surfaces action items: unanswered reviews, missing profile info, overdue posts
- Suggests tasks across marketing, customer understanding, and growth
- Key demo use cases shown:
- Brand positioning analysis based on customer reviews
- 3-month growth plan tailored to local market (Austin example)
- 7-day social media content calendar with captions and brand rationale
- Standout early testing examples:
- SF clothing brand used Gemini to model limited-drop vs. evergreen revenue scenarios
- Fish shop in Austin: Gemini audited categories, spotted missing “oyster bar” tag, and set it directly from the chat window
Availability, Scope, and Privacy
- Rolling out globally in coming weeks, 40+ languages, most regions
- UK and EEA excluded for now, support coming
- Currently for single-location businesses only; multi-location and agency support on the roadmap
- Initial access for personal Gmail accounts; Workspace support in progress
- Workspace accounts get fully siloed data, no leakage to Gemini
- Consumer accounts: profile performance data (impressions, etc.) also stays private
Roadmap and Advice for Getting Started
- Two near-term priorities flagged:
- Expansion: all regions, all account types, mobile access
- Persistent business context: Gemini understands your business across all chats, not just inside the notebook
- Review reply publishing in Gemini is in progress but not yet live
- Challenge: avoiding low-effort, inauthentic AI-generated replies at scale
- Advice for small businesses new to AI:
- Just start: try the tools, there’s no wrong way to begin
- Upload more data (business plans, P&L) to get more personalized responses
- Push the tool to its limits and revisit every few months as it evolves
