When One Look Turns Into a Full-Blown Fight
Ever go from calm to completely triggered in seconds? You’re talking with your partner. Everything seems fine. Then it happens. A tone. A look. One sentence. Suddenly your chest tightens. You snap, get defensive, shut down, or go completely silent. Later you think: “Why did I react like that? I know better.” Here’s what may be happening: Your brain sensed threat before you had time to think. When that happens, your survival system can take over. Your ability to slow down, think clearly, empathize, and communicate gets much harder. And if you’ve experienced painful or unpredictable relationships before, your brain may be especially quick to recognize anything that resembles an old threat. So sometimes you’re not just reacting to what’s happening now. Your body is reacting to what this moment reminds it of. That’s why telling yourself to “just communicate better” often isn’t enough. Try this instead: 1. NOTICE What just happened inside me? 2. REGULATE Slow your body down before responding. 3. RECONNECT Come back to the conversation when you can respond instead of react. Regulation first. Communication second. Now I’m curious: Which is harder for you to recover from after conflict? 🤐 The silent treatment 🔥 The blowup Tell me why in the comments. I have a theory about which one people underestimate. Jennifer Garcia, LMHC

HI NICE TO MEET YOU AND I AM GLAD TO BE IN THIS SPACE YOU ARE TRYING TO BUILD
Hey everyone, just joined and wanted to introduce myself. I'm currently working on my own Skool community and connecting with other creators who are also somewhere in the building or pre-launch stage. I'd be interested in hearing from other community owners here. If you're the owner, feel free to say hello or send me a DM. I'd love to compare experiences.
Welcome to Real Relationship Talk: Let’s Actually Talk 💜
Welcome to Real Relationship Talk 💜 This is the place where we talk about the relationship stuff people usually whisper about. Why do we chase people who pull away? Can trust actually come back after betrayal? Is it a boundary… or are you trying to control the outcome? Why can someone know a relationship isn't good for them and still have such a hard time leaving? And how much of what we call “chemistry” is actually an old attachment pattern showing up again? Real Relationship Talk is a community for honest conversations about love, dating, marriage, attachment, breakups, boundaries, communication, people-pleasing, red flags, self-worth, healing and everything complicated in between. I'm Jennifer Garcia, LMHC, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, author and relationship educator. I created this space because relationships aren't always neat enough for a motivational quote. Sometimes we need somewhere to actually talk about it. No pretending you have it all figured out. No perfect relationships required. No judgment for being human. We're starting this community from the ground up, which means you get to help shape what it becomes. So let's start with a question: What relationship topic could you talk about for HOURS because you have some strong opinions about it? 👀 What’s the relationship struggle you wish people talked about more honestly? 👀 Add your answer to the poll below Drop yours below. 👇 Welcome to Real Relationship Talk. Let's actually talk.
