Y as a vowel...
The letter Y is a vowel MOST of the time, not "sometimes" as the saying goes. We use Y as a vowel in a lot more words than as its consonant sound. I was never taught this as a kid or while training to become a teacher. Only learned it through Phono-Graphix training. So helpful for kids to know this! Here's a pdf worksheet and video quiz on the Letter Y to add to your toolkit.

Word Attack Process
I just stumbled across this resource I made for my students years ago. I think I've changed how I explain it to kids a bit but the process is basically the same. A lot of students just don't know where to start when they're faced with a long and intimidating word. I hope you find this helpful! Let me know if there's anything that can be clarified.
