Learning old things anew!
Good Day! Welcome to Ratatosk's Folk School! I am a living historian and experiential archeologist. I'm also a licensed MN teacher. I have been participating in living history and experimental folk ways for 30 years. I can teach you how to cook with fire, make hand built ceramics, design menus using commonly available dry goods, fruits, and vegetables. While these menus won't necessarily be historically accurate, they will feed you and your family easily and cheaply. I will also teach you how to organize errands, shopping trips, and daily schedules based on how my grandmothers did it. You can do this. Our way of life is changing and it's up to us to make sure our families are fed and organized for survival. We are heathens and welcome all walks, faiths, gender, ability, ages, and just about anything else. We are old activists seeking to teach younger folk how to manage in an era of unprecedented and shocking changes. If you are unwilling or unable to be welcoming to others, that's fine. I'm sure other situations will arise for you to participate in. We are all about building a bigger table. We are interested in art, reading, writing, crafting, cooking (indoors and out), history, teaching and learning cycle, dogs, and trying to live in an urban setting. We'd like to invite you to share some of the memories you have of how your grand parents or great grandparents did things to help make days run smoothly.
