Advice on Shadowing Surgeons & Extracurricular Ideas for Oxford Medicine????

Hiiiiii 🥰,

So I’m doing transition year (TY - 10th grade I think?) in Ireland next year (basically a year where you get work experience and do extracurricular stuff, most students do it).

One thing I really want to do is shadow a neurosurgeon 🧠 (or any surgeon really). Any tips on how to go about that? I’ve heard it can be tough to get these opportunities 🤔, so if anyone has advice on how to ask hospitals or doctors, I’d love to hear it.

Also, I’m looking for other extracurricular activities 📝 that could strengthen my application 📚. I’ve already done a research project , worked at a local pharmacy , participated in summer programs , and taught coding online.
