Tip Tuesday: Surviving the family gathering trigger
We need to talk about one of the biggest, sneakiest traps on this journey: family gatherings and holidays.
We love our families, but let's be real. Between the chaos, the family drama, or just the old routine of sneaking outside to the porch for a smoke break, these events are a total minefield for cravings.
If you have a gathering coming up, you can't just wing it.
Here is your quick Tip Tuesday game plan:
  • Swap your escape route: When you need a breather from the noise, don’t go to your old smoking spot. Slip into a quiet room for a minute, check your phone, or offer to run a quick errand to grab extra ice.
  • Stick with the non-smokers: Grab a drink and lock into a conversation with the relatives who don't smoke so your hands and mind stay busy.
  • Remember the real trigger: That sudden urge usually isn't about nicotine. It's just your brain begging for a quick emotional escape from the crowd. Give yourself that break with a fast walk or some deep breaths instead.
What is your biggest trigger when the whole family gets together?
