Salut! Today you're learning one of the keys to sounding natural in French — liaison, where a normally silent consonant gets pronounced when the next word starts with a vowel.

vous êtes / vous avez / ils ont / nous avons — liaison with être and avoir
ils arrivent / elles arrivent — liaison with ils and elles verbs
un ami / mon ami / mon école — liaison with un, mon, ton, son
bon appétit / grand homme / petit ami — liaison with bon, grand, petit
les amis / des idées / mes enfants / nos amis — liaison with les, des, mes, nos
dans un appartement / en arrivant — liaison after prepositions
très important / plus utile — liaison with adverbs
deux amis / trois amis — liaison with numbers
tout est prêt / tout à coup — liaison with tout
petit à petit — a classic fixed expression
The rule to remember: the silent consonant at the end of a word wakes up when the next word starts with a vowel or silent h. It's what gives French that smooth, flowing sound!
