Mind-blowing flavor! Col de dame noir FIG
Until recently, I had never eaten a fresh fig before. I started rooting my first fig cutting in May of 2024 and I harvested my first fig this November 2025. My Col de dame noir fig produced exactly 1 fig in it's second season of growth. I watched it like a hawk all summer long since I first noticed the little figlet. This variety needs a long growing season and is not very cold hardy so when night time temps started dipping into the 40's I brought the fig inside and put it under lights. A few weeks later the green fruit doubled in size nearly overnight and the color began to change. Just over a week later, the fruit was soft, slightly shriveled, and smelled sweet. Perfect. My wife and I shared our FIRST FRESH FIG EVER and it did not disappoint. Unbelievably sweet, slightly tart, jammy raspberry peach. Amazing!
