From Developer to Senior Leader — My Journey Through Uncertainty and Growth
I started my career as a developer. I loved building things, solving problems, and seeing my code come to life. But over time, I began to struggle — roles were being outsourced, technology kept changing faster than I could keep up, and I often didn’t know what to learn next to stay relevant. Even though I was good at what I did, I faced self-doubt. There were times when I had gaps between jobs because opportunities required very specific experience or niche skills that I didn’t yet have. It was frustrating and discouraging. But instead of giving up, I used that period as a turning point.I decided to pivot — to move from being a technical contributor into leadership and project management. It wasn’t easy. I had no mentor, no roadmap, and very little support. It took months (and honestly, years) of learning, failing, and trying again before I landed my first PM role. That’s when the next set of challenges began. I suddenly found myself responsible for outcomes far beyond my own work — managing people, influencing without authority, and learning to lead. Again, I had no one to guide me, so I had to figure it out through trial, error, and persistence. Fast forward to today — I’m now a senior leader in a large organization. I get to work with incredible teams, shape strategy, and help others grow in their own careers. It’s been a long, humbling journey — from writing code alone in my room to leading cross-functional teams across the company. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: Your career doesn’t have to follow a straight line. It just has to keep moving forward. Growth often comes from uncertainty — from those moments where you’re not sure what’s next but you choose to keep learning anyway. And today, I can honestly say: it’s been worth it. 😊 Share your journey pls - if you are at the beginning share your struggles and where you would love some help
