Today's Root: hemo- heme- (blood)
Examples: a "hemophiliac" is a person whose blood doesn't clot in the same way as most people's do. The term literally means "lover of blood" (as the root "philios" is greek for "love" or "friendship"). Other words that use this root: hemoglobin (the main protein in blood), hematoma (a blood clot), hemorrhage (bleeding from a wound), and many others.
