Alternative Pathways to "Certification of Qualification"
🚨 Calling all Power Engineers in BC & across Canada! 🚨
We all know the traditional path to certification: working your way up through plant roles (assistant β†’ shift β†’ assistant chief β†’ chief engineer) and writing the exams. But did you know there are other recognized ways to gain qualifying experience toward your 5th through 1st Class Power Engineering Certificates?
Technical Safety BC (and other Canadian regulators under SOPEEC standards) recognize a variety of experiences beyond just plant operation. From commissioning projects to consulting, there are multiple ways to demonstrate competency and meet certification requirements.
πŸ‘‰ I’d love to hear from this community: What alternative paths have you taken (or seen others take) to meet certification requirements?
Let’s share knowledge and help the next generation of engineers understand all the options available. βš™οΈπŸ”₯
