June Challenge Backfire! 😂🎲Do you want to join the Glaze Roulette Challenge?
So... our Skool call tonight took a completely unexpected turn 🤣
As many of you know, my June challenge was simply to encourage everyone to do something outside their comfort zone.
Then there was Lucy's personal challenge to me...
When I visited Lucy recently, we made some AirPen pieces together, and she challenged me to glaze them using a completely random glaze selection.
Now, for someone who loves testing, planning, spreadsheets and carefully thought-out glaze combinations, this is absolutely NOT my comfort zone 😳🤣
Somehow this came up during tonight's call and the conversation took on a life of its own!
Before I knew what was happening, everyone was insisting that I had to do a random combo on a real piece, not a test tile! I'm freaking out - horrified....
Then Pat very kindly read my own challenge back to me...
And suddenly everyone started joining in 🤣 It was amazing!
People were heading into studios, counting shelves, checking glaze racks, choosing row numbers and having completely random glaze combinations selected live on the call.
Ronda is currently in the UK, in Scotland with no access to her glazes - so we came up with the option for her to do this at Potclays Pottery supply shop with us on Saturday when we meet up - and if we choose a selection she doesn't have she is going to buy it! Totally committed to the challenge!!
The secondary challenge for June became:
🎲 Two/Three glazes and one Jungle Gem
🎲 Chosen completely at random
🎲 No extra glazes allowed
🎲 Use as much or as little of each glaze as you like
🎲 Any application method you like
🎲 Must be on a piece, not a test tile (I dont like this rule!!!)
It was hilarious and I was the only one really getting pushed outside their comfort zones well and truly! But it was SO much fun!
***So this post is our official second June Challenge thread***
  • If you took part tonight, add your glaze selections below so we can keep track of everyone's combinations.
  • If you join a future Skool call and fancy taking part, we'd love to have you. Ideally get your glazes chosen live on a call because honestly, that's half the fun!
  • The plan is to reveal our finished pieces together on a future Skool call before sharing them here.
So... who else is brave enough to surrender control and let fate choose their glazes? 😅💜
Come join the chaos!
