Rarity vs Scarcity (this made me a better investor)
Understanding this made it easier for me to make purchase decisions. How do you guys feel about this?
Rarity = number of copies released.
Scarcity = number of copies available on the market.
Pikachu Illustrator = is rare.
Charizard base set = is not rare.
A lot of the harder-to-pull cards from modern aren’t rare, though at the time they do feel like it.
A useful shortcut to figuring out if a card is rare or scarce is to just check the number of cards graded to PSA for a specific card.
Use the pop report.
If a card is rare it’s most likely scarce. But if a card is scarce it’s not always rare.
