Hey everyone,
I’ve been working on designing something that I’m really excited to share with you all—Egg-Farm-in-a-Box. This will be an almost fully automated, sustainable egg farming system made for urban and suburban spaces, especially areas where fresh eggs are hard to find. It’s still in the design phase, but I wanted to give you all a sneak peek at what I’m working on. The idea behind Egg-Farm-in-a-Box is to turn unused spaces into efficient egg farms while keeping everything humane and eco-friendly. Here’s what we’re aiming for with the design so far:
It’s designed to hold up to 200 egg-laying chickens and could be expandable to 300 if not certified humane. The system will fit inside a 40ft long, 9.5ft tall shipping container. We’re projecting it will produce around 150-200 dozen eggs per week with 200 chickens. The system will include automated feeding, watering, and egg collection, making managing it much easier. We’re also designing it with Earth Tube technology to help control temperature naturally, keeping the chickens comfortable while saving energy. It will run on 220V power (with solar-ready options) and include a water recycling system to help conserve resources.
I’m designing this system with urban farmers in mind—especially those in food deserts who want to bring fresh eggs to their communities. Right now, we’re estimating the cost to be around $45,000, but that may shift as we finalize the design.
This project is still coming together, but I wanted to share the journey with you all and get your feedback. I’m excited to see how it develops, and I’d love to hear any thoughts or questions you might have!
Thanks for being part of this with me. I’ll keep you updated as things move forward.
