Back Struggles? Watch this short video
The crazy part is, I've blown what I said here out of the water. I made this video when I first launched, I'd had incredible progress with my back pain, was back at rugby, lifting weights etc. I'd left my 14 year career to become a self employed instructor helping people overcome back pain and much more. A massive risk for many reasons, not least that my other half had left her job at a BIG pay cut as we were planning to have a baby, AND we had just basically doubled our mortgage. All at once. And even with all that I knew it was worth the risk. The madness is that the results I speak about in that video, which I filmed when I was around 34 in May 2020 (another major factor, Covid lockdown after 7 months self employed) - the madness, is that those results are old news. Now at 40 I lift way heavier, my mobility is better, and I have less pain than ever. Please let this give you hope that, if you are struggling with back issues or anything else, you can absolutely improve your situation 💪 Here to help if you need anything!
Core Engagement
I'm a little confused as to whether I am engaging my core correctly. I get the pelvic muscles, but having a problem with understanding the abdomen muscles. There are several ways I can engage my abdomen muscles. 1. I can suck my belly button in as hard as I can. Which I believe pulls my diaphragm in and up. 2. I can tense my muscles up as if I was going to cough. 3. I can also tense my muscles up as though I was preparing to be hit in the stomach. (very similar to number 2) I am not sure if any of them are correct? Also, when doing the swan exercise I find on peeling my chest up off the ground I am pushing my stomach muscles out to be tense and not inwards. One other thing I find occasionally is breathing in or out while my core is tense difficult. Ha ha and that's most of the time during the Pilates exercises. Any advice would be appreciated.
Hydration
Curious about what every one is drinking to keep hydrated. I'm not to keen on just plain tap water. Maybe if something sugar free could added to flavour it. At the moment I drink tap water first thing in the morning and then it's white tea with one sweetener umpteen times for the rest of the day. Anyone any suggestions?
