Your First Online Business Is Supposed to Be Small…and Slightly Boring
Most people get stuck before they ever start because they believe their first online business needs to be exciting, impressive, or unique.
It doesn’t.
Your first business is not supposed to:
  • Change your identity
  • Impress strangers on the internet
  • Make you feel “lit up” every time you talk about it
  • Become your forever thing
Its only job is to work.
A small, boring, obvious solution to a real problem will outperform a flashy idea you never finish…every single time.
Here’s what usually happens instead:
You try to make the first thing special.
You overthink the positioning.
You worry if it’s “worth it.”
You keep tweaking instead of testing.
And eventually… nothing ships.
The people who end up with exciting businesses later almost always started with something simple, practical, and frankly… kind of dull.
They earned leverage after they earned proof.
If you’re in PYOB trying to pick your first online business, ask yourself this instead:
👉 What problem do I already understand better than the person dealing with it right now?
Not the sexiest problem.
Not the trendiest problem.
Just a real one.
Solve that first.
You can make it interesting later.
