Performance Swim Strokes is a group to pick the brains of Gary who is a swim parent, coach, international swimmer, swim school owner & award winning disability swim coach.
Gary was the coach of Scottish swimmer Alison Sheppard who joined him in Canada upon her retirement from swimming after Atlanta in ‘96. Her swimming had reached a plateau, spanning from 15yrs old to 25yrs. Her training program, designed by Gary, then took her on a journey like a Phoenix! By 2002 she had reached the top of the sport and was ranked #1 in the world.
Together Gary and Alison created Sheppard Swim School and have taught thousands of swimmers in Scotland. Some now at the top of the sport!
Gary runs swim clinics every week for competitive swimmers, coaches junior groups and also has swimmers visit him in his ‘endless pool’ for 1-2-1 lessons.
Gary writes in a blog called swimcoachingblog and has people from every corner of the globe reading it daily.
