is PPL still a good model in 2025

I have seen many people argue about this, I hav been running an ai marketing agency for the last year, we have pivoted to focus on deliverying ai lead generation servies to finance businesses. I want to add an extension to the business by offering a PPL model, no retainers, no ongoing work - we just generate leads through a seperate brand and then sell lead packages.

But i have seen a lot of agencies give this model a bad wrap - any thoughts?
