Should you just file with TurboTax… or is it smarter to hire someone independent?
I was asked this on a consult today and here’s the truth:
- TurboTax works fine if you’ve got a simple W-2, no dependents, and no side income.
- But the moment you step into business owner, contractor, real estate, or high-earner territory… the software stops being “cheap” and starts being expensive — because it misses strategies.
Think: depreciation, Augusta Rule, S-Corp planning, entity structure, retirement setups, credits most people never touch. That’s where an independent strategist comes in.
👉 I’m curious — which side have you used in the past?
- TurboTax (DIY) (other)
- Independent Tax Pro
