Does Penmanship Still Matter in 2026?
I believe it does—perhaps now more than ever.
As we celebrate our nation's history, it's worth remembering that the vision of America was first written by hand.
The Founding Fathers didn't type the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, or the Bill of Rights.
They carefully crafted those documents with pen and ink.
Their penmanship preserved the ideas that shaped our national identity and continues to inspire generations.
Today, we live in a digital world where keyboards, tablets, and voice-to-text have transformed how we communicate. Those technologies are valuable, but they should add to our abilities—not replace them.
Neat penmanship and cursive writing remain important life skills.
Cursive doesn't compete with technology. It complements it.
