Cropping or using different image creative for different aspect ratios.

Hi, I have been running ads using the same image cropped to fit different placements (Stories, reels, discover page, etc.). I was curious about what is the best way to go about using images in different placements. Is it best to crop the same image to fit the size of the placement, leave the image at its original size within the placement not filling it fully or use a custom made image specifically for that placement.

At the moment 2 of my ads for a client are simply product shots cropped for each placement and 1 is 3 separate images made for each placement to fill up the entire section they are shown.
