Wisdom Wednesday | Calling Cards
Would you bring calling cards back?
Before texting “I’m outside” 😂 people used calling cards when visiting someone’s home.
If the person wasn’t there, you’d leave your card behind… and sometimes the way it was folded added extra meaning.
• A turned-down corner could show you delivered it personally
• Some folds showed the visit was meant for the whole household
• “P.P.C.” meant pour prendre congé… basically, “goodbye, I’m leaving town”
The funny part? The rules changed over time and became so confusing that etiquette books eventually started calling the system outdated. 😂
