Let’s Test Something… (Community Engagement Experiment)
I want to show you something important about running a community.
Most people think engagement happens because:
• You post amazing content
• You write long posts
• You create beautiful graphics
But the truth is…
Engagement usually starts with ONE simple prompt.
So let’s test it right now.
Drop ONE emoji below that describes where you are in your business right now.
💡 = I have an idea but haven’t started
🛠️ = I’m building something right now
🚀 = I’ve launched something already
🔥 = I’m making sales
🤯 = I feel overwhelmed and stuck
No long explanation needed. Just the emoji.
Now here’s the lesson for community builders 👇
Posts that get engagement usually have three things:
1️⃣ They are easy to respond to
People don’t want homework.
If the reply takes 2 seconds… people participate.
2️⃣ They make people feel seen
When someone drops an emoji or comment, you can reply with encouragement or ask a follow-up question.
That interaction is what builds community.
3️⃣ They invite participation instead of teaching
Teaching posts are valuable.
But conversation posts create community.
You need both.
𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐓𝐢𝐩s 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲
Try posting one of these today:
• “Drop your niche below 👇”
• “What are you building right now?”
• “One win from this week?”
• “Coffee or tea while you work?”
𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐲 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞.
1️⃣ 𝐓𝐡𝐞 “𝐃𝐫𝐨𝐩 𝐈𝐭 𝐁𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐰” 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭
This is one of the easiest engagement drivers because people only need a few words to participate.
Examples you can use:
• Drop your niche below
• Drop the digital product you're building
• Drop your biggest challenge right now
• Drop the offer you're working on
Why it works: People like talking about what they’re building, and this lets members discover each other too.
Pro Tip: Reply to several comments to keep the conversation going.
2️⃣ 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐥 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭
People love sharing opinions. When you give them simple choices, engagement spikes.
Examples:
• Digital products or memberships?
• Instagram or YouTube?
• Morning productivity or night owl work sessions?
• Free challenge or webinar?
Why it works:Polls require almost no thinking, so people respond quickly.
3️⃣ 𝐓𝐡𝐞 “𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐖𝐢𝐧 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤” 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭
This builds positive momentum inside your community.
Example post:
“Let’s celebrate wins today 🎉Drop ONE win from this week.”
Wins can be:
• Finished a lead magnet
• Posted consistently
• Got their first sale
• Learned something new
Why it works:People love recognition, and celebrating progress builds community culture.
4️⃣ 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭
Ask members to share their experience.
Example prompts:
• What tool do you use for email marketing?
• What’s your favorite AI tool right now?
• What’s the best advice you received when starting online?
Why it works:People enjoy helping others, and it positions members as contributors.
5️⃣ 𝐓𝐡𝐞 “𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐤” 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭
These posts are extremely easy for members to answer.
Examples:
• The biggest lesson I’ve learned in business is ______.
• The hardest part of starting online was ______.
• If I could go back and start again, I would ______.
Why it works:It encourages short responses that turn into deeper conversations.
The Real Secret to Community Engagement
Most people think engagement comes from better content.
But the truth is…
Engagement comes from better prompts.
Your job as the community leader is simply to start conversations.
Once people feel comfortable participating, the community starts to grow on its own.
Movement creates engagement.
And engagement is what makes communities grow.
So go ahead…
