Welcome to One Step Away World Wide If your child plays sports, or you want them to, this is the community built for you. One Step Away Athletic Development is a free educational community for parents who want to do more than cheer from the sideline. This is where you learn the science behind your child's development, understand what's actually happening in their body during growth, and discover how to support their athletic journey the right way — from the ground up. Most youth sports environments focus on winning now. We focus on building the athletes habits and development, letting the winning come naturally. What you'll learn here: Every week you'll get access to educational content, resources, and conversations covering: - How youth athletes actually develop — physically, mentally, and athletically - Why athleticism comes before sport skill, and what to do about it - How to recognize and respond to common youth sports injuries like Sever's Disease and Osgood-Schlatter without panic - What load management, movement quality, and capacity actually mean for your child's long-term health - How to have better conversations with your child's coaches and athletic trainers - When sport specialization helps and when it hurts Who this is for: This community is for the parent who: - Wants their child to stay healthy and competitive for the long haul - Is tired of getting vague answers about their child's pain or development - Suspects there's more to athletic development than just more reps and more games - Wants real, evidence-informed education — not fear, not hype Who leads this community: My name is Gregory Hawthorne. I'm a Certified Athletic Trainer, Performance Coach, and Youth Development Specialist based in Georgia. My experience spans youth sports organizations, collegiate athletics, and professional football — and that same knowledge is the foundation of everything shared inside this community. My approach isn't about quick fixes or impressive highlight reels. It's about building the athletic foundation that makes everything else possible.
