What does our body need…
Sometimes we just need to get up and move. I recall a doctor’s visit years ago where scans were ordered, medication prescribed and referrals made. Then he looked at me and said ‘I’ve done my part, now you need to do yours’. Confronting - yes. Was it true - also yes. We sometimes create an arsenal of excuses in our life of why change is too hard. We adopt coping strategies that keep us safe when we need them and sometimes we hold onto these tightly and these become a part of our identify. We can hang onto them as long as we need to, because if we try and change or let go of them before we are ready, the change won’t be sustainable. But there comes a time when we have learnt new coping strategies, new ways to care for ourselves and this is when we are ready. Everyday is a chance to do things a new way. Today, at 5:45am I went for a joffle of 7km. I used a TABATA timer on my phone at 90/30 ratio. A few rounds I went back to back no break, and then the last 1km was a warm down walk. I am making the choice to do it different. My right knee has been talking to me all week. My left hip always talks to me. I am carrying extra weight. But I need to get some sweat in this game to make a difference. No one else can do that for me. I am nourishing and nurturing my body and my soul by choosing to move. I have a country road I meander down and weaved back into town through the residential. The birds sing The cows smile And as the early morning motorists give a wide birth, there is often a head nod or single finger wave that I always take as ‘good on you for getting out there and having a go’. Running, jogging, joffling has physical benefits, but did you know it is awesome support for mental health also. Here is an interesting article linking running benefits with ptsd: https://www.ptsduk.org/how-running-can-help-people-with-ptsd/4/

You can’t pour from an empty cup
Read that again. Slowly. So many of us are out here trying to be everything for everyone — the reliable one, the strong one, the one who always shows up. But behind the scenes? We’re exhausted. We’re short-tempered. We’re quietly burning out. And then we wonder why we feel resentful, uninspired, or disconnected from the very things (and people) we care about most. Here’s the truth: ✨ You’re not supposed to run on fumes. ✨ Rest isn’t a luxury. It’s a requirement. ✨ Boundaries aren’t selfish. They’re sacred. ✨ Saying “no” is often the most loving thing you can do — for yourself *and* for others. You fill your cup not to escape responsibility — but so you can show up ‘with power, presence, and purpose’ So today, I’m reminding you (and me): Make space. Say no without guilt. Choose what recharges you. Protect your peace like it’s your superpower — because it is. 💥 If your cup’s feeling empty lately, this is your nudge to slow down, breathe deep, and refill it — unapologetically. 🫶 What’s one thing that fills your cup when life feels heavy? Drop it below — I’m looking for ideas 👇 #SelfCare #ProtectYourPeace #EnergyMatters #LeadershipFromOverflow #EmptyCup https://www.facebook.com/share/r/14JG7BfvyTU/?mibextid=wwXIfr

Welcome
As a Counsellor and Holistic Therapist, the biggest contributor I see to people’s wellness is their ability to take care of themselves and choose to prioritise them. For so many people I work with, they have prioritised the needs of others over their own for a long time: - Parents - Main income earners in the home - Carers for sick or elderly family - The 'organiser' in a group of friends As a collective of big hearted people, too often our personal needs are placed on the back burner. I know - I did this for a long time and this is how the Nourish & Nurture Collective was born and is here to support YOU. This community is currently available for free and is a place everyone is welcome and a place to have some me time and learn together. Each month, we will explore a collective theme from the field (a term from the world of constellations) and a variety of offerings available for you to access from mediations, journaling, ancestral wisdom, nature connections, EFT, plants, equine assisted learning, reiki, somatic and embodied movement, ceremony and ritual and so much more. As a qualified Counsellor and Holistic Therapist, I guide this community in a trauma informed manner sharing over two decades of wisdom and knowledge along the way. Now you are here, it would be great to introduce yourself by telling us: - Your name - What are you hoping to find here at Nourish & Nurture Collective - Where in the world you are from BONUS if you share a picture (of you or something that makes you smile) I look forward to journeying with you all and sharing the wisdom and gifts I have gather over the years, as well as learning from the collective..
