for England and Wales. I have been asked t o reply.
It may be helpful i f I explain that The General Register Office i s responsible for birth
registration in England and Wales i n accordance with the Births and Deaths Registration
Act 1953.
When a birth i s registered i t i s simply a record o f the event a s it happened at the time,
there i s n o transfer o f ownership nor does it create a contract nor a claim for a n estate.
The Registrar General i s only responsible for matters regarding civil registration.
