As the Data Entry Specialist, you will:
- Enter and update bill information, including bill actions, amendments, sponsors, summaries, and status changes.
- Ensure bill action histories are complete, properly sequenced, and aligned with official legislative sources.
- Maintain accurate committee and floor session schedules, including dates, times, agendas, documents, and locations.
- Enter and verify vote roll calls, including committee votes and chamber votes.
- Enter and update broader governmental and political calendar information, including: Fundraisers, Press conferences and media events, Government meetings, Public policy events, Stakeholder or advocacy events
- Monitor multiple official and external sources daily to ensure calendar data remains complete and up-to-date.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across states.
- Correct discrepancies and omissions flagged by the Director of Legislative Data & Insights or data/operations staff.
- Follow State Affairs’ data standards, taxonomy, and naming conventions.
- Enter and maintain administrative rules, notices of rulemaking, and related state agency data.
- Support new feature rollouts and special data projects across the State Affairs platform.

- Prior professional work experience working in a CMS, database, or spreadsheet-based data entry environment
Preferred Qualifications for this position include:
- Prior professional work experience in fast-paced data entry operations
- Prior professional work experience in government, politics, journalism, research, or policy analysis
- Prior professional work experience with legislative tracking systems or bill data entry
- Knowledge of legislative processes, bill lifecycles, and committee structures
This is a remote work opportunity that is based in the United States. The salary range for this role as it is posted is $20.00 per hour (this is an hourly position). State Affairs offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package to employees.
