Zero pressure living abroad.
Okay , abroad is also someone's country the same way Nigeria or Ghana is someone's country. If living abroad for 15 years automatically translate to one economic success, living in Nigeria or Ghana for 15 years should also translate to success in equivalent ratio of earning . It's simple logic . If someone earns £2200 monthly in UK and saves £220 each month because of bills, each month . A person living in Nigeria earning N220,000 monthly should also save N22000 each month. Mathematically , the person living in UK should have by end of 15 years at least £39,600 while the person in Nigeria should have at least N3,960,000 in their savings. They all should save 10%. So check your family and relatives or the people you know, how many of them having lived in Nigeria for 15 years have that amount of money. So the guy in UK is criticised for not saving 10 % of all his earning but not the guy in Nigeria. Meanwhile the guy in Nigeria has been begging the guy abroad for money all these 15 years. There is something wrong with this attitude. How do we measure success in life . Is it by money saved or by achieving your economic or career goals or by achieving your life security goals ? Success is personal. For some , being sufficient and having peace of heart could be what they set out to achieve. If your intention is to create wealth then you must save and invest to achieve it. If your success goal is to show off on social media as most Nigerians abroad do, then use your earnings to buy flashy things , if you have £50,000 you could invest in pension fund and ETF , you could use it to build big house in your village and make a video during Christmas and post and people will praise you ( goal achieved). So before judging people enter their brain to know what their goals in life are ? Don't use your small brain to judge or gauge what success parameters should be for another independent being. And in this case one had to consider what the man considered as success rather than what the society expects of him. To travel abroad and settle in a country without immigration worries is a success ( am an immigration lawyer ) trust me. Then he can build on that success to work , save and stop allowing people back home to be pressuring or blackmailing him to be sending his investment funds to them. Steve Job said people don't know what they want until it is shown to them. The same way , people don't know what success they have achieved until someone points it out to them. That man is successful , he needs to appropriate it and start saving all his money for his use and investment (if he has the knowledge). If he doesn't know how to invest , let him put it in high yielding interest account and that would sort out inflation in the future
