ROV HUB CLEANING OPERATION
Cleaning a wellhead hub is a routine Deepwater intervention task performed by work‑class ROVs equipped with specialized rotary cleaning tools. The goal is to restore the sealing surfaces of the hub before installing equipment such as BOPs, well caps, or intervention systems.

At a depth of 3000 ft, a work class ROV is deployed to clean the wellhead hub before installing subsea equipment such as a BOP or well cap. The ROV uses hydraulic rotary cleaning tools fitted with abrasive or Scotchbrite pads to remove marine growth, corrosion films, and debris from the sealing surfaces.
The ROV stabilizes itself using thrusters and sensors, aligns the tool with the hub, and applies controlled pressure while the tool rotates to clean the surface. After cleaning, the ROV performs a visual inspection to confirm the hub is smooth, debris‑free, and ready for sealing.
Deepwater conditions, low temperature, high pressure, and limited visibility require robust tooling, strong lighting, and precise ROV control to ensure a reliable, damage‑free cleaning operation.
