Parent Safety & Community Guidelines | Nelson Horsemanship
This video was created primarily for parents and families at our school, but it’s also an important overview for anyone who follows along with our videos here on YouTube. In this video, I go over our parent safety guidelines, community expectations, and boundaries to ensure a safe, respectful, and positive environment for everyone — riders, parents, horses, and staff. These guidelines exist to protect: 🐴 The horses 👩‍👧 The riders 👨‍👩‍👧 The families 🤍 The learning environment Whether you’re a parent at the barn or a viewer watching our content online, this video gives you a clear understanding of the values and standards behind Nelson Horsemanship. Thank you for helping us build a community that is safe, supportive, and respectful — both in person and online. 👉 drop a comment below introducing yourself and your little equestrian.

Our Barn Rules
This is a shared space. We protect it together. Kindness is non-negotiable. We speak to and about others with care — even when they’re not present. Everyone is learning at their own pace. No comparing rides, horses, or progress. We respect horses, people, and the barn. Care, responsibility, and awareness matter here. Questions are welcome. Curiosity is encouraged. Mistakes are part of learning. This is a safe space to try. Confidence grows through support, not pressure. If something feels off, we talk about it. This is a place to grow — together.

Quick question:
I've been thinking about closing this community down. But I'd like your input first. If this space were actually helpful for you, what would you want most? A) Horse training & groundwork help B) Horse mom life / balancing horses + family C) Business / income ideas around horses D) Monthly challenges or exercises E) Other (comment)

📣 An Update + What’s Coming Next Inside the Academy
I want to take a moment to share where things are shifting inside Nelson Horsemanship Academy. When I first opened this space, I had a lot of ideas about what I thought I should be offering—courses, content, structure, all the things. What I’ve realized over time is that what most of us actually need isn’t more information. We need a reason to keep showing up. Life gets busy. Weather changes. Motivation comes and goes. And horses—just like us—have seasons. I’ve felt that myself, and I know many of you have too. So instead of trying to force this space into something complicated, I’m simplifying it into something sustainable. 🌿 Introducing: The Show Up Project Starting in June, this community will shift into a monthly challenge format called The Show Up Project. This is a 12-month, theme-based series focused on: consistency over perfection connection over pressure staying mentally and emotionally connected to your horse through every season Some months will be more action-based. Some months will be mindset-focused (especially through winter). All months are designed to meet you where you are. There is no falling behind here. There is no “right” way to participate. Showing up looks different for everyone—and it all counts. 🐎 What June Will Look Like June’s theme is: Just Get On. That might mean riding. It might mean groundwork. It might mean grooming, sitting, journaling, or simply reconnecting. June is about lowering the bar and breaking the cycle of “I’ll start when things are perfect.” 🔓 June Is a Free Founders Month June will be free and open as we build this together. I’ll be showing up with you—not as someone who has it all figured out, but as someone who understands how hard consistency can be in real life. This will transition into a paid monthly challenge later on, but June is about setting the tone, the culture, and the rhythm. If this feels like something you’ve been needing—gentle structure, accountability without pressure, and a place to stay connected—you’re in the right spot.
